BBQ @ Karna's this Sunday 29/06/2008

BBQ Old Ivanhoe has been suspended since their second game till now, so this week we don't have a game, instead we have been given a walkover.

We're in the middle of the season and Yeti FC is still flying high. So our mate Karna is throwing BBQ at his place.

As usual, we could be there at 10 AM and not to forget to bring your football gears to start with some football actions. When we think we're hungry, we could head off to his place. Karna says we can play on the corner of Heaths Road and Crowe Street.

Shorts are out and Jeans are in...

Was it the rain, was it the roadblock or was it the warmth of a blanket which consequently caused eleven men to run around the park in them folded-up jeans and boots with the studs? Amusing at first sight, but could have been a disaster really if it weren't for the gallant effort from the boys in all areas of the park.

Yet FC defeated JFG Wanderers 5 - 0 in a comical fashion quite literally. However we might have failed miserably at trying to convince the folks at Kingston Heath Reserve that jeans are the next best thing in football since the once-almost-famous 1/4 shorts of the 1980s at Victoria Street. Oh well better luck next time.

Result: Yeti FC 5 - JFG Wanderers 0
Goal scorers: Pankaj Lamichhane(1), Punya Limbu (1), Hari Gurung (3)

Match Report: 01/06/2008

A rather chilly start to the day as 1st of June made a foggy entrance. However with the team confidence running high into this match, today was going to be about anything but the weather.

Even then anyone could be forgiven for thinking today was going to be 'just another day another win'. As the end drew near it became apparent that this was to be a historic day for Yeti FC. Yeti FC outshined Highlander United and in the process created the club's first double digit (10 goals in a single game) history. We have also moved up to the top-spot on the ladder. We are also the highest scoring team so far, both in aggregate and within a single match.

Result: Yeti FC 10 - Highlander United 1
Goal scorers: Hari Gurung (3), Dipu Gurung (2), Arjun Rijal (1), Niraj Tamang (1), Kabin Shrestha (2), Punya Limbu (1)

On a slightly different topic, let's take a look at the other results of the day:
* Kooyong United vs Club Maurice 2-2
* Melbourne Eagles vs Carringbush 3-1
* Olympiakos vs Old Xaverians 1-2

Each of the above results give us valuable insight of our opponents:
* First real skill-level indication of the unknown Club Maurice.
* Melbourne Eagle's blazing performance has somewhat subsided over the past two weeks, perhaps the new visitors are finally settling in.
* Old Xaverians are becoming a force to reckon, their results over the past two weeks speak of improvement.

To conclude, the 2008 premiership looks very much possible for Yeti FC.
